I have to say that every time I go to Oakland a little bit of my heart stays in there... I guess it's more the city I expected San Francisco to be.
This past Friday we went for another of Oakland's First Fridays, one of the cultural partners of Oakland First Fridays is Oakland Art Murmur (OAM), a collection of galleries and mixed-use venues many of which are open First Friday evenings. The range of artistic exhibitions is inspiring. Most of the venues are open from 6–9 pm. Many of the galleries are adjacent to the Telegraph Avenue site of Oakland First Fridays on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th Streets going east toward the hills.
The mission of the Oakland Art Murmur is to support art and cultural venues that are dedicated to increasing popular awareness of and participation in the arts of Oakland.
During those hours the streets are full of people enjoying themselves, dancing in the streets, to the music, eating some delicious foods from the food trucks, admiring new artists through the galleries and the little stands on the streets selling from t shirts to jewellery, classic cars and motorcycles shown at the gas station... It's a big celebration of art, music, colors, people...
Here you have some photos I took this past Friday.... Enjoy! And next time.. Come to Oakland to enjoy it too :)
